Brees refuses to comment on NFL future after wild-card loss to Vikings
Ten days shy of his 41st birthday, quarterback Drew Brees refused to comment on his NFL future following the New Orleans Saints' wild-card loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
"I'm not making any comments on (a potential retirement) other than I've told you guys this for the last couple of years," Brees told reporters after the game, via CBS Sports. "I've always just taken it one year at a time and kind of re-evaluate each offseason, find the things I want to get better at, and move on."
The future Hall of Famer expressed disappointment after the Saints were eliminated but was optimistic in his squad moving forward.
"We have an incredible culture here," Brees said, according to Sports Illustrated's John Hendrix. "Stable foundation. It was one that is fun, we work hard and play hard. Love each other."
Similar to Tom Brady, Brees is eligible for free agency, as his contract voids on March 18. However, the veteran passer wants to stay in New Orleans if he chooses not to retire and could sign another short-term deal, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Brees completed 26 of 33 passes for 208 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in what could be his final career game.
