Ravens break single-season rushing yards record

In an era of high-powered passing offenses, the Baltimore Ravens have made history running the ball.

With another 223 rushing yards in Sunday's win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Ravens broke the NFL's single-season record for team rushing yards. They finished with 3,296 yards this season.

The previous record, which the New England Patriots set in 1978, was 3,165 yards.

Lamar Jackson and Mark Ingram have been the key rushing pieces in a phenomenal season for Baltimore's offense, with the former posting 1,206 rushing yards to break Michael Vick's single-season quarterback rushing record, and the latter topping 1,000 yards for the third time in his career.

The Ravens' rushing dominance continued even as those two star playmakers rested during Sunday's regular-season finale, with Gus Edwards recording a career-high 130 yards, backup quarterback Robert Griffin III adding 50 yards of his own, and rookie Justice Hill tallying another 39 yards.

Baltimore's offense has been the driving force behind the club's ascent into the NFL's elite, leading the way to a 14-2 record and the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.
