The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could make tight end O.J. Howard available before the trade deadline if they receive a substantial offer, sources told ESPN's Jenna Laine.

Howard has reportedly been the source of multiple inquiries, but the Buccaneers have been unwilling to part ways with their former first-round pick. The team reportedly shut down a recent trade approach from the New England Patriots, telling the reigning Super Bowl champions that Howard was not for sale.

Howard has seen a diminished role under first-year head coach Bruce Arians. He has just 13 receptions for 176 yards and no touchdowns in 2019, and he's on pace to set career lows in all three categories.

Last year, Howard emerged as one of the top young tight ends in the game. He's polished as both a blocker and pass-catcher.

Howard played in the first six games of the season before missing Week 8 with a hamstring injury.
