Lawrence rips Pederson for vowing win: 'He might want to shut his ass up'

DeMarcus Lawrence fired back on Friday at Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, who earlier in the week vowed to defeat the Dallas Cowboys in their pivotal Week 7 contest.

"Tell him to come on," he told reporters, including The Athletic's Jon Machota. "We ready. Can he play the game? He might want to shut his ass up and stay on the sidelines. He can't play the game for them."

The Pro Bowl defensive end indicated he could take on a greater workload Sunday after subbing out more frequently during the first six games this year. Lawrence underwent shoulder surgery in April and has been eased back into action.

"You ain't got to worry about it this week," he said when asked about his snap count this season. "Doug Pederson already called us out, so y'all know what it is. Thank y'all."

Pederson became bold on Monday while discussing the clash of NFC East co-leaders. The Cowboys and Eagles are both coming off losses in Week 6 that dropped their records to 3-3.

"I know the sky's falling outside," he told a Philadelphia radio station. "It's falling and I get that. The fans are reeling just a little bit. But we're going down to Dallas and our guys are going to be ready to play. And we're going to win that football game and when we do, we're in first place in the NFC East, we control our own destiny. We're right where we need to be."

Lawrence hasn't recorded a sack in nine career games against the Eagles. His 10th meeting will come under the bright lights of Sunday Night Football in Dallas.
