Darnold: Jets can be 'unstoppable as an offense'

Sam Darnold is riding high after the New York Jets upset the Dallas Cowboys in his return from mononucleosis.

With tight end Chris Herndon close to returning from a hamstring injury, the Jets' offense will soon be at full strength for the first time this season.

"Right now, we're just missing Chris," Darnold told reporters, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. "Once all the guys are back together, I think we're unstoppable as an offense - or we can be."

Darnold added: "It's just up to us and how we execute. It's really up to us how many points we score, I think. I think we're capable of so many points. With our offensive line, too, the way they played last game, with the way we've been running the ball and the way they've been protecting, sky's the limit for us."

The second-year passer missed three games while battling mono. He completed 23-of-32 passes for 338 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception against the Cowboys to capture AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

New York ranks last in total offense this season, largely due to instability at quarterback in Darnold's absence. Head coach Adam Gase's squad will look to build on its first win of the year Monday night against the New England Patriots.
