Redskins not considering QB change after Keenum's 5-turnover game
Washington Redskins fans chanted for rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins during Monday night's loss, but they'll have to continue to wait for his debut.
Following a five-turnover game by Case Keenum in a 31-15 loss to the Chicago Bears, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said he's not considering a quarterback switch.
"Not really, no. I think the most important thing is we have to have some continuity," Gruden said in his postgame press conference. "I can't be changing people every five minutes. I've got to give Case an ample opportunity to play with these new guys. It's his first time in this offense."
Keenum was 30-for-43 for 332 yards and two touchdowns, but he threw three interceptions and lost two fumbles. The Redskins trailed 28-0 with less than a minute remaining before halftime.
"I feel like Case has the tools to become a very efficient quarterback in this offense and get us some victories moving forward," Gruden added.
The 0-3 Redskins' next game comes against the New York Giants, who are starting their own rookie quarterback, Daniel Jones. It would set up a potential matchup of first-round picks, but Gruden has chosen instead to keep the veteran under center.
"We've got to stick together. That's all we can do," he said.
