Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed could be forced into retirement due to his latest concussion, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Reed has an extensive concussion history and is believed to have suffered the fifth documented one of his NFL career during the preseason. He had two documented concussions in college.

Reed has yet to make his 2019 regular-season debut and was already ruled out for Week 3 when Washington faces the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football.

The one-time Pro Bowler has been bogged down by various injuries throughout his career and has never played 16 games in a single season. His most productive campaign came in 2015, when he notched 87 receptions for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Reed reportedly still hopes to resume his career.
