Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan will miss four-to-six weeks with a broken foot suffered in Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons, a source told Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.

The injury does not require surgery, Florio reports.

He was set to inherit a greater role following the foot injury to Malik Jackson that could sideline the free-agent acquisition for the remainder of the season.

Jernigan recorded a sack in the season opener but was kept off the stat sheet before his injury in Week 2. He played an integral role in the Eagles' championship team in 2017.

The sixth-year veteran missed all but three games last season due to a back injury.
