Chargers GM frustrated by Gordon holdout: 'I haven't solved this one yet'
As Melvin Gordon's holdout approaches the regular season, Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco has expressed frustration that the two sides have yet to work out a new deal.
"I'm disappointed it has lasted this long," Telesco said, according to ESPN's Eric Williams. "I pride myself in having solutions to problems, and I haven't solved this one yet. We know what he means to our team, and even bigger than that what, he means to our organization.
"But the other side is we have a big game coming up this week with the (Indianapolis) Colts, and I'm confident in the players that we have on the field right now will play well."
Gordon is fully expected to continue his holdout into the regular season, as contract talks haven't progressed the way he'd hoped.
The 26-year-old running back is entering the final year of his rookie contract and has already rejected a Chargers offer that would have netted him $10 million per season. He's reportedly seeking roughly $13 million in average annual value.
