Suspended wide receiver Martavis Bryant will be applying to the NFL for reinstatement in the coming weeks, he informed ESPN's Dan Graziano.

Bryant has been arguing with the NFL that its drug program isn't set up to help players access adequate treatment for mental health issues.

The league suspended Bryant, who has an extensive history of substance abuse, on Dec. 14 after he violated the terms of his conditional reinstatement.

The 27-year-old appeared in eight games for the Oakland Raiders last season, posting 19 receptions for 266 yards. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2014 to 2017, recording his best season in 2015 with 765 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 11 games. Bryant didn't play in 2016 because of a suspension.

If reinstated, Bryant would become a free agent.
