The Dallas Cowboys have traded for Miami Dolphins veteran defensive end Robert Quinn in exchange for a 2020 sixth-round pick, the team announced Thursday.

Quinn has one year and $11.8 million left on his deal in Miami, but Dallas said it's "reworking that to lower his current hit on the salary cap."

The nine-year pro will turn 29 in May. He played in all 16 games last season and racked up 6.5 sacks.

Quinn would be a much-needed addition to the Cowboys' defensive line. Randy Gregory and David Irving are both suspended and stud pass-rusher DeMarcus Lawrence could find himself in a contract standoff.
