Projected 1st-round pick Simmons tears ACL in workout

Projected first-round pick Jeffery Simmons, a defensive tackle from Mississippi State, confirmed Tuesday that he suffered a torn ACL while training.

Simmons posted 58 tackles and two sacks during his junior campaign. He finished his three-year career at Mississippi State with 157 tackles and seven sacks.

The ACL tear means Simmons will be hard-pressed to make an on-field contribution as a rookie.
