Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers scored some extra points with his teammates this week after they found out about a certain cameo he made back in 2002.
Peppers appeared alongside former Atlanta Falcons running back T.J. Duckett and NBA star Carmelo Anthony in the music video for Nelly's seminal hit "Hot in Herre" - something that caught several of his teammates by surprise.
The Panthers' official website shared their reactions Friday:
Wide receiver Curtis Samuel's eyes nearly popped out of his head as he watched a clip of Peppers from the video.
"Whoa! No way! Yoooooo!" Samuel screamed. "Stop playing! Man, no way!"
Locker neighbor Torrey Smith then chimed in.
"That's young Pep!?" Smith shouted. "Man, that's one of the best music videos of all time!"
Quarterback Cam Newton literally froze when he first caught a glimpse of Peppers in the video.
"I need you to airdrop this to me," Newton said, still in disbelief. "I need a screenshot of this."
Nelly, who's scheduled to perform at halftime of the Panthers' Week 15 game against the New Orleans Saints on Monday night, also references Peppers in his song "Heart of a Champion," rapping, "That's why I'm back up at the Super Bowl - with Julius Peppers."
