Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz isn't practicing Wednesday due to back soreness and isn't expected to play against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

There is concern that Wentz may not play again in 2018, Rapoport adds, while the team continues to gather information on his health.

Head coach Doug Pederson was asked Wednesday if Wentz would play and told reporters they're focusing on today and getting him better, according to Jeff McLane of Philly.com.

The third-year signal-caller has completed 69.6 percent of his passing attempts for 3,074 yards and 21 touchdowns with seven interceptions through 11 games this season. He missed the first two contests while recovering from the knee injury that prematurely ended his MVP-caliber 2017 campaign. His final game was against the Rams in L.A in Week 13.

Backup Nick Foles, who started the first two games of this season after quarterbacking the Eagles to a victory in Super Bowl LII, will likely be called upon if Wentz can't suit up against the Rams. Foles completed 54 of 82 passes for 451 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in his two starts this season - a win over the Atlanta Falcons and a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The 6-7 Eagles will be fighting to stay in the NFC playoff picture, while the 11-2 Rams have already clinched a postseason berth.
