Washington Redskins linebacker Reuben Foster will remain on the commissioner's exempt list after agreeing to not appeal his placement until his pending legal matter is resolved, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

As a result, Foster will likely sit out the rest of the season. The Redskins reportedly anticipated this scenario and were never counting on him making an impact this campaign, a source told Schefter.

Washington claimed Foster after he was released by the San Francisco 49ers following an arrest for domestic violence. The Redskins were the only team in the league to put in a claim for the linebacker.
