NFL owners will meet Tuesday and Wednesday in New York, and among the topics of discussion will be the now dormant anthem issue.

However, it's expected no action will be taken in regards to anthem policy, Mark Maske of the Washington Post reports. Instead, talks are predicted to center around "a broader conversation about social-justice initiatives with the players."

The hot-button topic of last season is decidedly less so through six weeks of this year's campaign. The protests made during the national anthem aren't garnering national attention. Players including the Miami Dolphins' Kenny Stills and the Carolina Panthers' Eric Reid continue to kneel during the anthem, and others such as the San Francisco 49ers' Marquise Goodwin and the Dolphins' Robert Quinn still raise a fist, but it has yet to get a rise out of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Instead, much of the attention has been on the product on the field and the strong viewership numbers.
