Atlanta Falcons rookie wide receiver Calvin Ridley appears to have avoided a serious ankle injury, as his MRI came back clean Monday, a source told ESPN's Vaughn McClure.

Ridley is believed to have suffered a bone bruise, per McClure, and his status going forward will be monitored as he works through rehab.

The Falcons are set to host the New York Giants on Monday Night Football next week before their Week 8 bye, so Ridley may be rested to allow for extra recovery time.

The rookie wideout is off to a solid start in his first campaign, accumulating 22 receptions, 349 yards, and six touchdowns in six games.

Atlanta selected Ridley No. 26 overall in April's draft.
