The New England Patriots are hosting free-agent wide receiver Kenny Britt for a workout Monday, and he could re-sign with the club depending on the health of his hamstring, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The Patriots released Britt on Aug. 23.

New England is in dire need of help at wideout. With Julian Edelman suspended for another three games, supposed No. 1 target Chris Hogan caught just one pass in the Week 1 win over the Houston Texans.

Phillip Dorsett led the Patriots among wideouts with seven catches for 66 yards and a touchdown. Cordarrelle Patterson was the only other receiver with a catch, as New England relied heavily on tight end Rob Gronkowski and running back James White.

Britt is two years removed from a 1,000-yard campaign with the Los Angeles Rams.
