Fireman Ed is returning to MetLife Stadium.

New York Jets superfan and unofficial mascot Ed Anzalone, who hung up his helmet in 2012, told ESPN's Rich Cimini he's coming out of retirement for one day to lead the "J-E-T-S" chant at Sunday's home opener. Anzalone said he wants to provide an "old-school jump start" for the Jets.

A former New York City firefighter, Anzalone started leading the "J-E-T-S" chant in 1986. He was included in a fan exhibit at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999.

Anzalone revealed in 2014 that the Jets tried to convince him to come out of retirement, but he declined.
