The Carolina Panthers received some positive news regarding their ailing offensive line.
Left tackle Matt Kalil, who has been hampered by a right knee injury, met with orthopedic surgeon James Andrews on Monday to receive a second opinion and underwent an arthroscopic procedure, the team announced Tuesday. Kalil is now considered week to week.
Right tackle Daryl Williams dislocated his kneecap and tore his MCL at a practice in July and the team lost All-Pro guard Andrew Norwell in free agency.
The Panthers have placed greater emphasis on protecting superstar quarterback Cam Newton and opening holes for sophomore rusher Christian McCaffrey. The loss of Kalil for any extended period of time would be a substantial one.
