Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said the team's goal is for Aaron Rodgers to make his preseason debut on Thursday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Ryan Wood of packersnews.com.

McCarthy, who spoke to reporters on Tuesday, added that the health of left tackle David Bakhtiari will factor into Rodgers' playing time.

The star quarterback last stepped onto an NFL field for an unsuccessful last-ditch attempt to save the Packers' 2017 season in Week 15, returning from a broken collarbone in a must-win game against the Carolina Panthers.

Rodgers will likely play a series or two before ceding to his backups Brett Hundley, DeShone Kizer, and Tim Boyle.
