Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans made a $10,000 donation to help a childhood friend who was shot outside a Houston gas station.

Devyn Holmes, who went to middle and high school with Evans, was broadcasting on Facebook Live with two other people in a parked car when authorities say he was accidentally shot in the head by a woman playing with a gun. He remains in stable condition, while the woman, Cassandra Damper, has been charged with aggravated assault with reckless serious bodily injury and tampering with evidence.

Evans' donation was the largest made to a GoFundMe campaign set up to help with Holmes' medical costs and future care, according to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times.

"That's what the world should be about, helping others," Evans told ABC13 in Houston. "We saw on video that he was shot in the head, and he survived that. He's a true warrior."
