Report: Rams contacted Giants about potential Beckham trade
The Los Angeles Rams have been in contact with the New York Giants regarding a potential trade for superstar receiver Odell Beckham Jr. following a report he won't play in 2018 without a new contract, sources told Pat Leonard of NY Daily News.
The Giants are seeking a first-round pick and more for Beckham, added Leonard.
Beckham's reported discontent with his contract - which has one year and $8.46 million remaining after New York exercised the fifth-year option - came a day after Giants co-owner John Mara said he was "tired" of answering questions about his star player's behavior.
Beckham reportedly wants $20 million per season in his next contract, and the Rams have the cap space - roughly $28.37 million, eighth-most in the NFL, according to Spotrac - to give him the mammoth deal he desires.
The Rams could be motivated by a desire to capture one of the NFL's most recognizable figures ahead of their move to a new $2.6-billion stadium in Inglewood prior to the 2020 season.
