Free-agent running back, and native of Palestine, Texas, Adrian Peterson, has his heart set on inking a deal with the Houston Texans.

"It has always been my dream to come back home and play," Peterson said Friday on ESPN's First Take. "Taken that I've been living in Houston for over a decade. That would be a perfect landing spot, here in my backyard. That would be very convenient."

Peterson was released by the Arizona Cardinals earlier in the week in advance of a $750,000 bonus.

The seven-time Pro Bowler played 10 games last season split between the New Orleans Saints and Cardinals, totaling 529 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He'll turn 33 years old next week.

Peterson floated the idea of signing with the Texans last offseason, before ultimately settling with the Saints.

Veteran Lamar Miller and rookie D'Onta Foreman led the Texans' backfield in yards, carries, and touchdowns in 2017.
