Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor intends to play in 2018 as long as he receives medical clearance from his neck injury, reports NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Chancellor seems to be facing an uncertain future, as head coach Pete Carroll said in January that "Cliff (Avril) and Kam are going to have a hard time playing football again."
Avril, a defensive end, also suffered a neck injury last season, which limited him to four games.
Rapoport adds that Chancellor has no plans to retire. The $6.8 million he's owed for 2018 became fully guaranteed Feb. 9.
The four-time Pro Bowler and focal point of the vaunted Legion of Boom recorded a total of 49 combined tackles in 2017, with one safety and two passes defended. He was ruled out in November, and will turn 30 in early April.
Chancellor is also under contract for 2019 and 2020, and is due to earn a total of $20.5 million in base salary.
