New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles confirmed Josh McCown will be the team's starting quarterback for the remainder of the season.
"I've been saying that," Bowles said Wednesday when asked about McCown's status, according to Manish Mehta from the New York Daily News.
McCown was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 13.
The 38-year-old has been a pleasant surprise, completing 67.8 percent of his passes for 2,880 yards, 18 touchdowns against eight interceptions, while developing a strong rapport with receivers Robby Anderson and Jermaine Kearse.
McCown is a major reason why the Jets exceeded low expectations coming into the season and though it's unlikely they'll make the playoffs, he's kept the club competitive throughout the year.
