Watch: Lions' Marvin Jones auditions for 'American Idol'

Detroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. spent his bye week trying out for a spot on the reboot of "American Idol."
ESPN aired a clip Sunday of Jones auditioning for judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, but it looks like fans will have to wait until the show's premiere on March 11 to find out how far he made it.
"It was just a good opportunity," Jones told ESPN's Michael Rothstein. "Usually, it's funny because I've been in the league six years and there's still people who don't know I can sing. I've never really put myself out there like that, just when people were nagging me to do it.
"Just a change. Just something I thought it would be a cool experience before I get too old."
