The NFL's trade deadline is causing some teams to get extremely creative to help bolster their playoff chances.
Teams have been asking the Detroit Lions over the past week about acquiring the rights to retired wide receiver Calvin Johnson in advance of Tuesday's deadline, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Lions have been responding to interested teams by telling them to ask Johnson himself about his reaction to any potential move, but the receiver has been non-committal at best, according to Schefter.
Johnson hasn't played since turning in a 1,214-yard, nine-touchdown 2015 season with Detroit.
