Buffalo Bills receiver Jordan Matthews is expected to undergo thumb surgery after leaving Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons with an injury, Bills sideline reporter Sal Capaccio reports.
Matthews will have surgery to insert a pin into his thumb and, as a result, could miss a month of action, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The fourth-year pro was acquired via trade during the offseason and, in four games, has recorded 10 receptions for 162 yards and a touchdown. He exited Sunday's game after hauling in two catches for 10 yards and his first score as a Bill.
Through four games, quarterback Tyrod Taylor has struggled to find a rapport with his new receivers. Running back LeSean McCoy and tight end Charles Clay lead the team in yards and receptions, while newcomers Andre Holmes and Zay Jones have single digits in catches.
