San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York became the latest executive to rip into President Donald Trump, after he implored NFL owners to fire players who protest during the national anthem during a rally on Friday.
Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and New York Giants co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch released their own statements condemning Trump.
York's statement read:
The callous and offensive comments made by the President are contradictory to what this great country stands for. Our players have exercised their rights as United States citizens in order to spark conversation and action to address social injustice. We will continue to support them in their peaceful pursuit of positive change in our country and around the world. The San Francisco 49ers will continue to work toward bringing communities, and those who serve them, closer together.
It's a compelling perspective from the 49ers, especially in the light of the fact that Colin Kaepernick opted out of his contract with his team, after it was readily apparent that they wouldn't re-sign him.
Kaepernick hasn't been signed since opting out of his contract.
