The Oakland Raiders and offensive tackle Donald Penn are closing in on a two-year contract extension, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Penn is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

The veteran tackle held out during training camp, in large part due to his demand for a new contract. During Penn's absence, Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said the two sides wouldn't negotiate a new deal until he rejoined the team.

Penn earned the second Pro Bowl selection of his career in 2016, anchoring one of the NFL's premier offensive lines.
