Jerry Jones against anthem protests: 'I like the way the Cowboys do it'
No Dallas Cowboys player has participated in a protest during the national anthem yet, and that's just how team owner Jerry Jones likes it.
Jones has said he's against any kind of demonstration during the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner." Players from other teams have continued protesting during the current preseason, but the Cowboys haven't been participating.
"I just feel so strongly that the act of recognizing the flag is a salute to our country and all of the people that have sacrificed so that we can have the liberties we have," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan, according to Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News.
"I feel very strongly that everyone should save that moment for the recognition of the flag in a positive way, so I like the way the Cowboys do it."
Head coach Jason Garrett has also denounced such actions, stating last week, "The national anthem is sacred. Our flag is sacred. And our team has demonstrated that."
