Massachusetts state police have launched an investigation into the suicide of Aaron Hernandez, but the former NFL star's lawyers said Wednesday they, too, will conduct their own inquiries.

Jose Baez, who won Hernandez an acquittal in a double-murder trial last week, said the ex-tight end showed no signs he was contemplating ending his life.

Hernandez was found hanging in his prison cell Wednesday morning at 3 a.m. and was pronounced dead around an hour later at UMass Memorial-HealthAlliance Hospital.
The 27-year-old was serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.
