Browns' Josh Gordon: Expected to be traded or released if reinstated

The Browns likely will trade or release Gordon (suspension) if he is reinstated by the NFL, The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Analysis:

Gordon applied for reinstatement in early March and expects to get an answer around the time of the NFL Draft. He's been suspended for 43 of the last 48 regular-season games, with his only appearances since 2013 occurring late in the 2014 season. He'll still only be 26 years old for the upcoming season, and he did look good in his two appearances last preseason, but then entered an inpatient rehab facility instead of rejoining the Browns after Week 4. While his willingness to take responsibility for his actions should help his case, Gordon's lengthy track record of substance-abuse issues means that any reinstatement likely would have a slew of conditions attached. Given his age and modest contract, Gordon might still fetch a middle-round pick in a trade. It's also possible, though not likely, that the Browns might reconsider their stance and give Gordon another shot.
