Report: Redskins moving closer to parting ways with GM McCloughan
Washington Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan's days with the club may be numbered, according to Liz Clarke and Mike Jones of The Washington Post.
McCloughan's point of contention reportedly stems from the dissolution of his relationship with Redskins president Bruce Allen. The general manager was also incensed by the team's refusal to back him against allegations levied by former Redskins tight end Chris Cooley, stating that McCloughan's absence is related to a drinking problem.
During the recent NFL Scouting Combine, McCloughan was absent and the Redskins' scouting personnel were only notified of the decision upon heading to Indianapolis for the weekend.
Allen refused to comment on McCloughan's absence from the combine and team facility, and will participate in free-agency meetings, as well as scouting evaluations for the upcoming draft. The executive gave up his general manager role when McCloughan was hired in January 2015.
McCloughan signed a four-year contract upon being hired by the team.
