Adrian Peterson made his return to Minnesota Vikings practice on Wednesday, taking part in a walk-through.
The team designated him as their player to return from injured reserve, triggering a 21-day period in which the Vikings have to officially activate him. The former NFL MVP tore the meniscus in his knee in Week 2.
Peterson has expressed a desire to return to aid in the team's playoff chase and targeted the team's Week 16 game against the Green Bay Packers as a possible return date.
Without Peterson, the Vikings own the league's worst running game, averaging a mere 73.4 yards per game after 13 contests. Peterson, a three-time rushing champ, averaged a poor 1.6 yards per carry in his two appearances this season.
Peterson is the Vikings' all-time leading rusher, however, with 11,725 career running yards and 97 touchdowns to his name.
