Gronkowski ties franchise record for TD catches

Kevin Jairaj / USA TODAY Sports

Rob Gronkowski has spiked his way to the top of the New England Patriots' reception charts.

With his 36-yard touchdown reception Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Gronkowski notched his 67th career TD catch, tying him with Stanley Morgan for the most in Patriots franchise history.

Morgan, a Patriots receiver from 1977 to 1989, needed 13 seasons to reach 67 scores with New England. Gronkowski tied the mark in just his seventh season in the NFL.

Sunday's score was Gronk's second of the season.

He has averaged 10 touchdowns a season up until this point, so it's a foregone conclusion that Gronkowski will become the franchise leader in that category, perhaps as early as next week against the Buffalo Bills.
