Panthers' Cam Newton: Practicing for third straight day

Newton (concussion) practiced Friday for the third day in a row, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

Newton has not officially cleared the league's concussion protocol just yet, but he has not had any setbacks, and is expected to be given the green light to play in Week 6 at some point in the next couple days. As long as that occurs, Newton will be back in his regular starting spot under center Sunday against the Saints.
