New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall and cornerback Darrelle Revis turned Friday's practice session into must-see action.
Following a heated battle in one-on-one drills, Marshall threw a punch at Revis, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.
The matchup had gone back and forth, with Revis blanketing Marshall early. The wideout then caught a long touchdown and trash-talked Revis about his struggles last season against Houston Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
Their exchange grew so intense that Revis was taken off Marshall for the remainder of drills. Despite this, Marshall walked from the sideline on to the field, exchanged words with Revis, and then reportedly punched him in the shoulder area.
Marshall was literally picked up by fellow receiver Quincy Enunwa and carried away from Revis.
After the conclusion of practice, Marshall told reporters he regretted his actions, but that he was still angry about the incident. He also said Revis, who declined to speak to the media, initiated the fight by striking him first.
"I caught a comeback and he took that personal," Marshall said. "Said you won't disrespect me again. That's not OK. But it's done. That's football."
Marshall continued: "Yes, we're both pissed off right now. I'm still angry and upset. But we've got to move forward."
While head coach Todd Bowles condemned Marshall's actions, he was pleased that both players, who've spent a combined 19 years in the league, still have competitive fire.
"Love it. We're not judging a beauty pageant .... You want guys on edge," Bowles said after practice.
