Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette announced his retirement at a press conference Thursday.
Lockette missed the final eight games of the 2015 season after being stretchered off with a neck injury in a Week 8 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.
Sources told ESPN's Ed Werder that he had no choice but to retire after being unable to rotate his head following the injury.
The 29-year-old's NFL career would come to an end just five seasons after first catching on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2011.
Though his first stint with the club was brief, and he later saw time with other team practice squads, each of Lockette's 34 career regular-season appearances came in a Seahawks uniform.
He also had a role in both of Seattle's most recent Super Bowl contests, catching one pass for 19 yards in a win over the Denver Broncos and tallying three receptions for 59 yards in a loss to the New England Patriots.
