The Calgary Flames signed offensively productive forward Andrew Mangiapane to an entry-level contract Wednesday.
Mangiapane - who was drafted by the club in the sixth round last year - enjoyed a stellar third season with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League, where he finished one goal shy of the league lead with 51.
His 106 points were good enough for sixth in league scoring, and his eight shorthanded goals tied for the league lead. Mangiapane will be in action Thursday when the Colts begin their playoff series against the Mississauga Steelheads.
