Andre Smith reduces suitors to Vikings, Cardinals
Free-agent right tackle Andre Smith will choose between the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals in his pursuit of a new team.
Smith visited the Vikings on Monday but will head to Arizona this week to evaluate his options.
"Things went well today. It's between (the Vikings) and Arizona. It's even," Smith said to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Smith was particularly impressed by the Vikings' coaching staff, particularly head coach Mike Zimmer. Zimmer and Smith were paired together during the former's tenure as Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator (2008-13).
"Great coaches," Smith said. "They seem to have a close locker room. Zim's a phenomenal guy. They actually seem like they care about you."
Considered one of the NFL's best right tackles, Smith would be a welcome addition to either the Vikings and Cardinals as both teams prepare for another playoff run.
