Virginia Tech, Maryland schedule 4-game series starting in 2026
Virginia Tech and Maryland have agreed to a four-game football series starting in 2026, the teams announced Wednesday.
The series' aim is to renew the rivalry between the two schools, which dates back to 1919.
"The opportunity to get a four-game series against a Big Ten Conference opponent was certainly appealing," Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock said.
"Even more importantly, we were eager to renew a historic series against a regional foe in a market where we have a very strong alumni base. Coach (Justin) Fuente and our staff will continue seeking opportunities to bolster our non-conference schedule in future seasons."
The two teams haven't met since 2013, and Maryland leads the all-time series 16-15.
They will face off four consecutive years from 2026-29, with each team hosting two games.
