Report: Cavaliers' Harris to undergo potentially season-ending surgery
The Cleveland Cavaliers might have to make do without their 15th man for the remainder of the season.
Seldom-used swingman Joe Harris will undergo surgery to remove a bone in his right foot, ESPN's Dave McMenamin reports. The procedure might force him to miss the remainder of the season.
Harris has played all of 15 minutes for the Cavaliers this season despite multiple injuries to the team's wing rotation. And with Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith, and Kyrie Irving restored to full health, there was virtually no need to ever deploy Harris, even in garbage time.
That wasn't necessarily the case last year, however, as Harris played 9.7 minutes per game and even sneaked in a start when the team struggled to find permanency at shooting guard last December.
The 6-foot-6 swingman does carry a reputation for being a spot-up shooter, as he's connected on 32-of-88 career 3-point attempts.
Harris is in the second year of a three-year deal and has a non-guaranteed $980,000 figure for 2016-17.
