Report: UFC looking to book Edgar on Labor Day weekend card
Frankie Edgar has agreed to appear on the UFC's Labor Day weekend card, but the promotion still hasn't landed him a suitable opponent.
Dominance MMA, Edgar's management team, said the No. 2 ranked featherweight is open to competing at UFC 191 on Sept. 5 as long as the right matchup is presented, according to MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani.
The UFC tried to book Alistair Overeem for UFC 191, but it appears "The Reem" is content to wait for Junior dos Santos to return from injury in the later stages of 2015.
At this point, a flyweight title bout between Demetrious Johnson and John Dodson is set to headline UFC 191, with Anthony Johnson versus Jan Blachowicz, Paige VanZant versus Alex Chambers, and John Lineker versus Francisco Rivera serving on the undercard.
