Juventus win record 10th Coppa Italia title

Juventus completed the second phase of their mission to secure the Treble on Wednesday, defeating Lazio 2-1 in extra time to claim their first Coppa Italia title since 1994-95.

Under the lights of the Stadio Olimpico, the match got off to a dramatic start as centre-back Stefan Radu gave Lazio an early lead by heading home a free kick in the fourth minute.

Lazio's lead didn't last long, however, as Giorgio Chiellini channelled his inner striker and volleyed home an equaliser in the 11th minute to revive Juventus' Treble aspirations.

While Radu and Chiellini are probably the last two players anyone would have picked to score in the final, the latter holds a bizarrely impressive scoring record against Lazio.

But nothing would prove to be more surprising than the impact that Alessandro Matri had on the match upon replacing Fernando Llorente in the 84th minute. Only three minutes after taking the pitch, Matri scored what appeared to be the winning goal before the linesman raised his flag up for offside.

It was a call that forced the fixture into extra-time, where Lazio nearly won it in the 94th minute when Filip Djordjevic blasted a left-footed strike off both posts.

Luck was clearly smiling on the Old Lady, though, as the ball never found the back of the net, setting the stage for Matri to do this moments later:

The goal triggered wild celebrations from the Juventus supporters who made the journey to Italy's capital, and Matri's shirtless celebrations provoked referee Daniele Orsato to issue the 30-year-old forward with a yellow card.

A quarter-hour later, the final whistle blew, meaning all that stands between Juventus and the Treble is a date with Barcelona in the Champions League final on June 6.
