Machida vs. Romero added to UFC Fight Night 70

A potentially epic middleweight bout between Lyoto Machida and Yoel Romero has been added to UFC Fight Night 70 on June 27.

A former UFC light heavyweight champion, Machida was violently knocked down the middleweight ladder by Luke Rockhold at UFC on FOX 15, succumbing to a rear-naked choke after being dominated for much of the round and a half of action. Prior to the Rockhold loss, "The Dragon" needed just a shade over a minute to completely dismantle C.B. Dollaway, all but liquefying Dollaway's insides with a rib-rocking body kick.

With a 5-0 record in the UFC, Romero is likely a win or two away from contending for the middleweight title. "The Soldier of God" was twice scheduled to face Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza in 2015, but Jacare suffered through a bout of pneumonia prior to their fight at UFC 184, and a Romero knee injury washed away their rescheduled bout at UFC on FOX 15.

UFC Fight Night 70 takes place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., and also features a welterweight bout between Erick Silva and Rick Story.
