Newly drafted St. Louis Rams safety Maurice Alexander is looking to go from cleaning the Edward Jones Dome to playing in it.
Alexander, who was handed a one-year jail sentence and kicked off the Utah State football team following the assault of a teammate in 2012, had all but 45 days of his sentence suspended, and spent his time away from football working as a janitor at the home of the Rams.
"I always stood at the end of that field and I just looked at it," Alexander told the Associated Press after the Rams drafted him in the fourth round. "This could be my dream spot. Look where I'm at now."
The 6-foot-2, 212 pound safety returned to the Aggies in 2013 and recorded 79 combined tackles, 3 1/2 sacks and one interception during his final collegiate season.
With his legal difficulties behind him, Alexander is glad he'll be cleaning up on the field this time around.
"Oh man, it was some work," he said of being a janitor at Edward Jones. "I'm not going to lie, there's a lot of cleaning up to do in that stadium."
