Ever since a confrontation in the third period of a Thursday night game between their two clubs resulted in both players getting a game misconduct, Detroit Red Wings forward Johan Franzen and Ottawa Senators pugilist Chris Neil have been exchanging barbs in the press.
Basically Franzen accused Neil of putting his hero cape on late in games to "fly around," to which Neil responded by saying Franzen should take the "yellow streak" off his back (by which Neal meant Franzen should have fought him and was gutless not too). Anyway that tiff is now over, because Franzen has scored a ridiculous knockout blow.
On Saturday, Franzen responded to Neil's odd "yellow streak" comments with what may stand up as the quote of this hockey season. "Asking me to fight," Franzen told Mlive.com's Ansar Khan, "is like asking Neil to show good hands and hockey sense."
That's ice cold.
