MILAN, Jan 30, 2014 - Serie A giants Napoli on Thursday announced the signing of versatile defender Henrique Adriano Buss, known popularly as Henrique, from Brazilian side Palmeiras.
Henrique has signed a deal that will keep him at the Napolitan club until June 2017.
"Napoli have completed the signing of Henrique Adriano Buss from Palmeiras on a permanent deal that will expire on June 30, 2017," said a team statement on www.sscnapoli.it.
Napoli owner Aurelio Di Laurentiis posted a message on Twitter earlier which read: "Welcome Henrique! Your experience and qualities will fit in perfectly with our great side."
The 27-year-old Henrique joined Barcelona from Palmeiras in 2008 but made no appearances for the Spanish giants, who loaned him to Bayer Leverkusen for the 2008-2009 season.
He also spent a loan spell at Racing Santander from 2009-2011 and returned to Palmeiras on loan before rejoining the Brazilian side on a permanent deal in 2012.
No transfer fee was announced by Napoli although reports suggest the Serie A side, currently third in the table 12 points behind leaders Juventus, paid Palmeiras 4m euros.
Napoli on Wednesday set up an Italian Cup semi-final clash against title challengers Roma, thanks to a 1-0 win over Lazio. Rafael Benitez's side are also still in contention in the Europa League.
